Out of the mouths of babes...

I was so close, oh....so close!!

I had the one who is supposed to be "The Mom" in the bathroom at the end of her rope in tears twice yesterday because I was crying so much (and very loudly, I might add). I pulled out all the stops. I was a sight to behold. Yelling, screaming, crocodile tears--the whole bit. I even rattled his cage a bit--you know, the one who is supposed to be "The Dad." I didn't get him to cry though. He is kinda tough, that one.

But what's the dealio? They think they did me such a big favor getting me out of that orphanage? I was fine. Ok, ok, so maybe this is a little bit better, I mean they did hook me up with a nice hotel room, and I guess they are all over me trying to see if I need anything. That Mom Lady would change my clothes 20 times a day if I let her, and I'm sure if I let up a bit I can eventually get those rings she is rockin', but come on? Am I supposed to not test them at all??? I was in an institution for almost a year of my life. This is hard on me too. I'm grieving, ya know? They look different, smell different, talk different. I have some issues that I developed while in the orphanage, I know that, but I'm sure I'll get over them with time...but as for them-- I don't trust them at all...well, not yet.

Also, can I just say (to my defense) that it's not my fault they were freakin' starving me! I tried to let them know I was hungry by crying, wailing, flailing, crying, wailing, flailing, repeat, repeat, repeat but HELLO? Shoving a luke warm bottle in my face is not going to get the job done. Heat that sucker up and cut a bigger whole in the nipple! I'll drink it if you idiots do it right. Jeez. It's not that hard, people. You know... I really expected more from them.

Here's another problem with them: Every time I freak out and cry they think it's because I'm teething. Well, I am but that's besides the point. Last night, when they were freaking out because nothing they did was working, they finally gave me some new wave, homeopathic teething medicine-- but it didn't keep me down. No, no, no. Just when they were starting to fall asleep, at a nice, ripe time of 3:30ish, you know it brothas and sistas, I woke them up screaming. It was AWESOME. They jumped a mile, I swear it.

But that's when it happened.
They figured it out. It took them until 5:52 AM, but Frick and Frack figured it out. ACES. They had the bottle at the right temp, the right amount of formula and they cut the nipple. I caved. I couldn't help it. I caved and cut them a break.

They're really not so bad and they earned it...so I drank the formula.

Here's the thing though-- Now they think they're back in control because I'm kind of into the eating thing. They aren't calling me "Cranky Frankie" anymore. Oh no...now they're calling me "Frank the Tank" and pumping their fists while chanting "Frank, Frank, Frank" every time I slam a bottle. Just because I didn't see "Old School" doesn't mean I don't get it.

I mean, really--"Frank the Tank?"
So not cool.
I'll get them back though. Wait 'til it's time to poop and I can't go. Constipation should cause quite the crying episode. I'm taking them both down. Over confident, newbie, wanna-be parents, you're going down--going down to China Town.
Sleep with one eye open cuz I'm Frankie Jade Coden and you ain't gonna sleep til I go to college--and maybe not even then!
FJCoden OUT.

Dear Frankie,
Hi. It's your Aunt Abbey in Texas. You will meet me soon enough. First I want to say how excited I am that I am beating Nagler and Greta to the punch and posting before them. Ha.

Second, Good for you for letting up a bit!! I know your parents are relieved that you are eating. I bet the poop thing will hurt a little (or a lot), but stick with it. It will come out, and then your mommy will put a nice cool wipe on your tushie.

Tell your parents to keep doing the homeopathic teething things.

Although they look different, they are very pretty and very handsome, your parents. You will get used to them. At least YOUR dad has hair!!

Try to give them a break. They are doing very well under the circumstances. I promise that things will be fine soon enough!

I can't wait to meet you, and I can't wait for you to meet Luci and Nadia, and of course, your Uncle Andy Reed Poopypants. But just remember...HE doesn't have hair (although he doesn't really know that).

Love,
Aunt Abbey

Robyn and Cody - the blog is the highlight of my day - checking for updates when I should be earning my dime - too funny what you wrote today - I'm glad Frankie is standing her ground (already a little of her mama in her). Glad the rhythm is starting to flow...thanks again for sharing what the two of you could so easily and understandbly keep just for the three of you - but I know so many of us are thrilled and touched you're not.

xoxo Brian

What up Frankie Jade? Glad to see you are like all of the other kids that you will soon know and own your parents already. Keep them sharp and on their toes at all time. One day soon they will master all that has taken all of us weeks and months to perfect and the crying will stop and the constant smiles and laughter will commence. Enjoy the time in China. We cant wait to spoil you ourselves upon your return The Fields Family

Sounds like you've met your match! We knew she was going to keep you on your toes. She's a cutie - the photo of her in the green made me melt.

Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures.

Love to you all.

Dear Cousin Frankie,
1st of all welcome to Coden world. as your older cousin I feel its my duty to tell you that these are some pretty cool people. But you must test them. Glad you're doing that! I through a little bout of colic into the mix, just an fyi....A good thing thing to do is fall asleep at what "they" deam to be proper bedtime, but at about 3am. WAKE UP! not with the crying thing, but with a cute "hey I wanna play" thing. My daddy would play with me at that time for awhile, until i dozed off again around 5am, but thats some quality time right there. Don't worry little girl, we'll talk and work on a game plan.

Love, Emma Coden

WE LOVE it!!! Frankie has the right idea....making sure you get the "full new parent" treatment---after all, it wouldn't be real parenthood without the lack of sleep and tears and anxiety. Now you'll be able to truly say you are PARENTS. Isn't it wonderful??

Love you all,

Karen & Mickey

Dear Tank,
I cant wait to hang out w/you this summer, my parents tell me we're going to be neighbors. We have to lakeside units right on the water, and I hear we get great sunrises too. You can totally play with my dog grizz, and I hear that you have a dog too. I love the waking the parents up in the middle of the night game, I am a master and will teach you some new tricks. The best one is letting them think they've figured it out for a while, then WHAM, lay it on them. Thats the best! Anyway, I have so much to talk to you about, and can't wait to meet you. I hear that you are coming from a long way away, and have many great stories of your own. We'll have to discuss them over some smores and hot chocolate for sure. Until then, keep em guessing. Your summer time neighbor Mak.
P.S. My Mom and Dad told me that your Mom and Dad are really cool.

Frankie -
Forget "Old School". I've got cartoons we can watch when you come over for a visit. Nana and I can't wait. I loved your blog today. You're a terrific writer, with a great imagination, just like your mommy.

Hang tough, little girl. A whole new wonderful world awaits you -- and the rings are just a little bit of icing on the cake.

All my love,
Grandpa Jimmy

Frankie,
That mom person once said I am your literary guru as I have a lot of fun books and favorite kids authors to share with you-however your writing skills rock. Can you come and teach my 3rd graders? I think you are giving your mom and dad the "just wait" thing they have been hearing about for qitesome time. You are getting me all excited to give birth to your cousin. Please don't show him/her the ropes. Just kidding!
Love you lots,
LG

FJC --

We can't wait to meet you.

I hope you stop crying soon -- you have some pretty amazing parents and if you are good they might even take you to the Riv.

We might even be willing to babysit one evening at Tanu if you need to get rid of your parents for a couple hours.

Dear Frankie Jade,

I'm proud of you! You are doing a wonderful job of breaking-in your daddy and mommy!

You see, no self-respecting baby can hold her head high unless she has can arrange 3 things and in very short order:

1) baby crying in this room
2) mommy crying in that room
3) daddy helpless in the other room

Good for you, girlie!

Hugs, Kim/ ifs

Frankie J.,
It's your Auntie Nancy. We are going to become great pals, especially over the summer as we are a hop, skip, and a jump from your summer cabin.
We will go shopping at the dollar store and the Hallmark store in town (how exciting!)and lunch at Troutown. Then a nap, and then it's out on the boat for some fishin'. Uncle Eric knows all the good spots (or at least he thinks he does). Then back to camp for milk and cookie time. You can bring your mom and dad if you want as well as your other pals at camp.
Zeke(no) will be looking for Floyd.

So, rumor has it that you are giving your parents a hard time already! Don't forget to come up for air!!!
You are so darn cute and I am quite sure that you have both of them wrapped around your tiny fingers.

Cannot wait to meet you.
Sending hugs and kisses to you all.
With love,
Aunt Nancy and Uncle Eric
